HONOR Magic9 series launches September 28 with Magic9 Pro Max, dual 200MP cameras, ARRI imaging, new MagicOS 11, AI upgrades, Moss Green design and professional zoom accessories.
HONOR has confirmed the Magic9 series launch for September 28 in China, putting its next flagship lineup in the spotlight. The Magic9 Pro Max is already confirmed to bring a dual 200MP rear camera setup, ARRI-backed imaging technology and a new Moss Green finish. HONOR is also preparing dedicated 200mm and 500mm telephoto accessories, while MagicOS 11 is expected to bring the series’ biggest AI-focused software changes. The company has not yet confirmed an India launch date.
The HONOR Magic9 series will be unveiled on September 28 in China. HONOR has not announced pricing for the Magic9, Pro or Pro Max yet, and there is also no confirmed India launch date. The company is expected to reveal the complete lineup, prices and availability at the launch event.
The Magic9 Pro Max is the biggest camera story in the series. HONOR has confirmed two 200MP rear sensors, including a 200MP main camera with a 1/1.28-inch sensor and f/1.57 aperture, along with a 200MP periscope telephoto camera using a 1/1.4-inch sensor.
The camera module, called the big director's eye, takes inspiration from professional cinema cameras. HONOR is also working with ARRI, bringing cinema-focused colour and video technologies to the phone.
The more interesting part is what comes with the camera. HONOR has revealed a dedicated photography kit with 200mm and 500mm telephoto extenders, along with a professional camera grip.
This means the Magic9 Pro Max is being designed not only around high-resolution sensors but also around long-distance photography. The 500mm attachment could make the phone particularly useful for subjects such as wildlife, sports and distant scenes.
The Magic9 series is confirmed to arrive with MagicOS 11, putting AI at the centre of the new software experience. HONOR is moving towards more agent-like AI features that can understand user requests and handle multiple actions rather than simply answering questions.
The company is also expected to reveal more about MagicOS 11 before the phone launch. Alongside this, reports point to a next-generation flagship processor and a much larger battery on the Pro Max, although HONOR has not confirmed the full hardware specifications yet.
For now, the Magic9 Pro Max stands out less for another routine megapixel upgrade and more for HONOR's attempt to combine 200MP mobile photography, ARRI cinema technology and detachable long-range optics in one flagship system.
