NVIDIA and LG join Hands to Work on Advanced Humanoid Robots and AI Factories

High-tech companies LG Group and Nvidia have announced a strategic alliance on physical AI. Following the meeting at LG Twin Towers between LG Chairman Koo Kwang-mo and Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang, it was finalized to expand the chain across humanoid robotics, autonomous smart manufacturing and AI factories.

Humanoid Robotics Ecosystem

The primary focus of this partnership is on the artificial intelligence that goes beyond the text screens and works in the physical world. With this agreement, LG Electronics will co-develop humanoid and logistics robots that are trained with Nvidia’s Isaac foundation models, GR00T and Cosmos, which will give the robots human-like reasoning. Under TGSi, the LG will work with Nvidia's Isaac Sim and Isaac Lab environments to virtually train and test the home assistant robots, like CLoiD, before they get deployed in the real world.

LG is also given the task of making high-performance modules that are made specifically for Nvidia's advanced computing systems. LG will directly integrate the robotics module into its PhysicalWorks platform to automatically track the deployed robots in the warehouse and manufacturing floors.

Building Next Generation AI Factory

Apart from mobile robotics, this alliance is working together on the Digital Twin Supercomputing Matrix (DSX) to power complex computing demands. As the large data runs next-gen GPUs, it requires heavy infrastructure, and that's why multiple LG affiliates are shifting their resources here to make this project sustainable. With this collab, LG is bringing its cooling engineering for thermal management on Nvidia platforms.

NVIDIA said that their goal is to establish a benchmark for smart factories by combining AI infrastructure with LG's manufacturing expertise.

Artificial Intelligence Tracking

This tie-up also introduces the core software models for effective working on the common project. Here, the LG AI research will leverage the Nvidia Blackwell GPU technology along with the NeMo software framework. LG Electronics is aligning its advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS) and AI software with the Nvidia DRIVE Hyperion platform to set its foundation in the vehicle industry.

Apart from robotics and manufacturing, the collab will cover AI infrastructure and mobility technologies, where LG’s automotive technologies will work with Nvidia’s AI platform to further expand AI in the transportation industry.

After this announcement, LG Chairman Koo confirmed that the other micro-level roadmaps will be finalized and shared during the follow-up summit that will take place in California.
