Samsung has revealed its most innovative foldable phone ever, called the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra. 

This is a global launch by Samsung, along with the Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Z Flip 8 at the Galaxy Unpacked in London. 

The Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra brings a huge improvement to the display strength, processing capabilities, battery life, and camera sensors.

Design and Technology

Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra is one of the thinnest foldable phones from Samsung ever, it stands at 4.1 mm in thickness when open and 8.9 mm thick when folded, all this with a weight of only 215 grams.  

In order to make the phone thinner but still sturdy, Samsung developed its own Flex Titanium technology, which consists of a titanium alloy layer and a titanium backing plate that is used to reinforce the display, withstand any shocks and significantly improve the appearance of the display crease.  

  • Main Screen: The main screen is designed with an 8.0-inch QXGA plus Dynamic AMOLED 2X (2504 x 2256 resolution), adaptive refresh rate of 1-120 Hz and maximum brightness of 3,000 nits.  
  • Cover Screen: Similarly, the cover display consists of a 6.5-inch FHD plus Dynamic AMOLED 2X (1080 x 2520 resolution), 10:16 screen ratio, covered with Corning Gorilla Glass Ceramic 3.  

However, this Z Fold 8 Ultra also holds an IP48 rating in both water and dust-resistant segments.

In terms of technical specifications, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra boasts the powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 Mobile Platform for Galaxy, as well as an advanced graphite heat dissipation system.

  • RAM and Storage: This model comes in 12GB RAM (plus 256 GB / 512 GB storage) and 16GB RAM (plus 1TB storage) variants.
  • Battery and Charging: This upgraded version of Z Fold features a bigger 5,000 mAh battery which is a huge improvement compared to earlier models.
  • In addition to this, it also has 45 W wired fast charging (through the new dual-path charging technology) and 20W wireless charging.

  • The phone has two distinct front-facing cameras; one is a 10 MP camera placed on the outer screen, while the other is on the inside screen. 
  • The phone is capable of recording videos in 8K resolution at 30fps with the help of a new codec called APV along with Cine LUT colour preview.

One UI 9 runs on Android 17, and Samsung has assured its user to deliver OS and security updates for 7 years.

  • Now Nudge: It has an Agentic AI that understands the context of your conversation and automatically opens the Multi Window to provide actions like adding calendar events.  
  • Now Brief: There are personalised cards that show daily summaries, schedule updates, and privacy notifications.  
  • Gemini Notebook: Provides a way to manage meetings better by uploading PDF and audio files to create summaries, quizzes or presentations.

Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra will be available in a variety of colours like Graphite, Cream, Violet Shadow, and a special web colour, Green Shadow.

Price in the US: Starting from 2,099 dollars for the basic 12GB plus 256GB variant.

Price in India: Starting from Rs.1,99,999 for the 12GB plus 256GB variant, with Rs.2,59,999 as the price of the 16 GB plus 1 TB variant.

However, this model is now ready for pre-ordering globally, with availability from 7th August.
