Vivo X500 series is confirmed for a September China launch with X500, X500 Pro and X500 Pro Max. The lineup will bring ZEISS cameras, a new Sony-based 17 stop sensor, 4K 240fps video and flagship hardware.
Vivo is preparing its next flagship smartphone generation with the X500 series, and the camera system is clearly the main focus. Vivo has confirmed the September China launch and revealed three models. The Pro series is expected to introduce a new ZEISS Super Dynamic camera with a claimed 17 stop dynamic range, while recent reports also point to the Dimensity 9600 Pro, 12GB RAM and an 8,000mAh class battery on the Pro Max.
Vivo has confirmed that the X500, X500 Pro and X500 Pro Max will launch in China in September 2026. The company has not revealed their prices or confirmed an India launch yet. Therefore, any India pricing currently circulating online should be treated as an estimate, not official information.
The biggest change is Vivo's new ZEISS Super Dynamic Main Camera, developed with ZEISS and Sony. Vivo claims the sensor can deliver 17 stops of dynamic range, allowing the phone to retain more detail in both bright and dark areas. This could be particularly useful for backlit portraits, sunsets and high-contrast video.
Vivo is also teasing 4K 240fps slow motion recording, alongside 4K 120fps HDR video. The company is pairing the camera hardware with advanced stabilisation, including CIPA 7.0 rated stabilisation on the Pro series.
The X500 Pro Max is shaping up to sit above the standard Pro model. Recent Geekbench results identify the phone and show 12GB RAM, while the processor is believed to be MediaTek's upcoming Dimensity 9600 Pro. Early benchmark results have also appeared, although these are engineering sample figures and should not be treated as final performance numbers.
Reports further point to a 200MP periscope telephoto camera, potentially giving the Pro Max a major advantage for long range photography. An 8,000mAh class battery and 90W charging have also been reported, although Vivo has not confirmed these specifications.
The Pro models are expected to continue Vivo's large, centrally positioned circular camera design, while the standard X500 may use a different camera layout. Reports also suggest premium displays, with the Pro Max potentially getting a 6.85 inch 2K LTPO panel with a 144Hz refresh rate.
What makes the X500 story more interesting is that Vivo appears to be moving the camera race beyond simple megapixel numbers. A 17 stop dynamic-range target, high frame rate 4K recording and stabilisation improvements could have a bigger real world impact than another jump in camera resolution. That is likely to be the key selling point when the X500 Pro series arrives.
