Google has dropped its planned AI Studio app for Android and iOS, and instead of shipping that as a separate download, it is folding those app-building capabilities straight into the Gemini app. This means Gemini could soon let you describe an idea in a normal chat and have it turn into a working, real-time app on the spot, and that is a big shift from the "one app per task" model we are all used to on our phones.
At Google I/O 2026, the firm had previewed an AI Studio app for mobile devices which was supposed to enable people to develop an idea while on the move and be able to come up with a working prototype once they reach their desks.
